Great feedback from an Etsy customer!

Check out this wonderful feedback from an Etsy shopper named Annie who recently got some puppets from The Creative Frog...

"I just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how great your hand puppets are. My mom bought two a month or so ago for my kids. We all absolutely love them. They fit perfectly into our puppet collection. Colorful & whimsy, just how we like! Your creativity & craftsmanship is superb! My husband also has commented that we could use them as mittens in the winter if we are ever in a pinch!

Thanks for offering your talents & such a great product!"

How great to get such a sweet note from another satisfied customer!

Exciting news for 2012

The Creative Frog is off to a great start in 2012!

In December, I moved from my off-site studio into a newly completed work space in our home.  I'm loving the ability to work whenever I please, and the convenience of having all my creative tools in once place is priceless!

Some fans of The Creative Frog may know that I was contacted last year from a representative of Martha Stewart Living magazine to use my upcycled wool puppets in an upcoming article about building a puppet show for kids.

Originally, the article was set to run in the March issue, but with the busy holiday season just wrapping up, I was actually relieved to hear from the Martha Stewart people that the story will most likely run in the May issue.  This will give me a few more months to pump up my supply of puppets!

I have about 40 puppets for sale on Etsy now, as well as several Jabberwooly dolls and critters, so hopefully I will continue to increase my numbers as the months move on.

I am also working on a number of special orders at the moment from customers who saw items they liked at holiday sales and wanted to special-order something after the Christmas rush.  I have more time on my hands these days, so please send any special order inquiries to creativefrog@msn.com.

Here's hoping 2012 is a fantastic year!

needle felting

This is a message for Olga from Texas  who sent me a message about creating a frog out of wool. For some reason, I could not send a message back to you as your email kept bouncing back.  The process you are looking for is needle felting. Google or U-tube that subject and you might find what you are looking for. Also the local yarn shop here in Bellingham, NW Handspun Yarns at 360-738-0167 might have the book you are looking for. Good Luck

New uses for wool

Have been trying to use my wool scraps artfully pieced together  to cover 9x12 inch boxes and they are a big hit. So big that two were recently stolen from a show!!!! Hope they are enjoying them as much as I enjoyed making them.  More will be on my website and at future shows TBA.

Here in the Northwest spring is slow in arriving. My tomatoes are crying for some intense heat. Just the kind of weather, though, to make soup and more wool creations!  Hello to all Jabberwooley lovers!

studio visit

Feel free to contact The Creative Frog via this website for a visit to my art doll studio. The studio is conveniently located in Bellingham WA, but my hours are irregular...so contact me first for details.

Spring 2010 Jabberwooleys at Art Market

Hi Everyone. Click on the shows to find out about the Jabberwooleys at the Fairhaven Art Market this spring. I also now have a studio and am trying to work there every Monday. I sure do enjoy hearing from customers who are enjoying their wool Jabberwooley dolls...like the customer with the 2 yr old who says her daughter carries the doll everywhere or the friend who shipped a doll to New Zealand this winter, and  the friend who tenderly shared how much comfort her little Jabberwooley gave her mom when she entered hospice. I  have the best customers ever!

Short Days of Winter

Well, hibernation mode has set in like clockwork. First I get crabby then I get hungry ...then I hit the couch hopefully with a good book.  Yesterday I got some wool from the scrap bin and started to piece.  I am constantly amazed at how yeilding wool can be at the ironing board with heat & steam. There is a need for a few more holiday stockings around here, so I just might  fashion this wool into a stocking or two...or I might make some pieced clothing for the JabberWooleys. My hibernation is self imposed exile, the process of resting and then letting the creative concoction ferment....sounds like sour kraut actually.

Comments on JabberWooleys

I just finished 2 Fall sales and the reception of the JabberWooleys has been spectacular. I think that is the most fun, hearing comments from everyone. It is like the little critters have souls that reach out to others. Everyone feels comforted by these strange looking critters in cute plaid pleated skirts....I want to thank KK for making beads and glass eyes for the next generation of dolls for the Roeder Home Sale in November. I can hardly wait to get started making these bright eyed characters. Thank you, Kathryn!

Hoilday Sale at the historic Roeder Home in Bellingham WA

I just posted the times and dates for the Roeder Home Holiday Sale. The Roeder is a gorgeous  turn of the century historic location here in Bellingham WA my home town. I recall last year after initially setting up for the event, I returned home with this bereft feeling.  Suffering from the ultimate sleepover parent panic attack, I realized all my little creatures would be alone in a dark locked house all night!  I had to have a little wine to calm down!

We are looking forward to visiting with all of our customers from Washington and Canada too, who love the sale as much as the artisans do.

Hello Australia!

Don't you love the internet? One of my little JabberWooleys is on her way to Australia.....safe journey little one.....

Sailing in the San Juans

For those of you lucky enough to live near the San Juan Islands, check out the website of the Gato Verde. Tonight captain Todd took us out on a 4 hour sail....it was a bit rainy here but spirits were high aboard the Gato and it was excellent, smooth sailing. The Gato Verde sleeps about 8-9 and I would highly recommend her.

Birthday Month

Never thought I would be one of those who wanted to ignore my birthday, but this year was one of them. We saw Meryl Streep in Mama Mia, though, and she really perked me up.  That wedding scene was reminiscent of some of the weddings in our family...and we have a few more coming next summer so I'd better get my dancing queen shoes ready!  The only project I've worked on this summer was a box collage. I can honestly say it draws me in whenever I pass it. I am also working on some collage journals........

Thank you

Yikes! This summer weather in the Northwest is incredible!  I am thinking of new ways to dress the JabberWoolies---with wool trimmed in satins---but so far it is only an idea. It is so hard to come in from the garden! Thank You for visiting my website and also to my three gorgeous daughters for helping me launch the site.  More later.....
